Golf Books - Check Out My Collection

Being a golf nut it was natural for me to collect a series of books about golf. In fact, I'm thirty three. This collection is eclectic in the sense that it covers every aspect of the game that has been written about. Some of these books were given to me, but most were purchased in my years of pursuing this crazy game. (Or is that the game makes you crazy?)

For the interest of other nuts in golf course looking for a good book to read, I have classified my collection of themes. Admittedly, we can discuss about my ranking, but should provide assistance to anyone looking for a particular course topic. Below my collection is divided into the following categories.

• History (the books of the Old Course)
• Collections of reviews and quotes from writers and players
• Golf Instruction
• The mental aspect of the game
• Golf Course Architecture
• Golf Humor

History: This includes three of the oldest known books on golf. These were reprints of the U.S. Golf Association.

Rules Thistle Golf Club by John Cundell, 1824. This is a copy of the first book on golf, which contains an attempt to establish a history of the game and the rules force at the time the book was written.

Some observations on Walking Golf by Robert Chambers, 1862. This book is the third book was published in golf and gives Mr. Salas thoughts about training, and the rules of play.

Tee shots and others, by Bernard Darwin, 1911. A collection of Bernard Darwin testing in golf. Darwin was a first-team player who never lost his passion for golf. He was known to name a player. A Once, when asked if he was to attend an interview for a new British Open champion, who blew it, "My readers want to know why I won, Why does that idiot think he won.

The next category is a collection of golf's writings, commentaries and anecdotes by and about golfers of all types and shapes.

A passion for golf, edited by bishops Schuyler, 1998. A collection of pieces written by the best writers course of the last fifty years reveals the inseparable relationship between golf and life.

Great Golf Stories, edited by Robert Trent Jones, 1982. A complete collection of writing about golf. It offers the best ever written a comment that goes from one of the greatest golf architects.

"And Then Jack said to Arnie," edited by DonWade, 1991. Don Wade has been covering professional golf and collect real stories about players and the game since 1970. This is a collection of his stories.

The quotable golfer, edited by Gary McCord, 2000. This book is a rich Course compendium of quotations that reflect the history, tradition, agony and excitement of Will Rogers to play Tiger Woods.

Golf Instruction. None collection of books would be complete without golf books golf instruction. I never keeps all the instruction books I bought, but the few which I longer include a couple of very good ones.

Tiger Woods - how I play golf by Tiger Woods, 2001. Tiger Woods playing golf book. Need I say more?

Classic Golf Instruction by Christopher Obetz, 2005. Lessons by Jack Nicklaus and others, the incredible drawings by Anthony Ravielli. Drawing Ravielli reward the reader with incredible view of the body of golf in the workplace.

Harvey Penick's Little Red Book Harvey Penick, 1992 scrapbook. Harvey Penick in his years of teaching golf. Da cut his practical wisdom and technical aspects helps gamers play as best.

Fit for golf by Gary Player, 1995. One hundred exercises that improve your golf game.

The elements of the score by Raymond Floyd, 1998 lessons. Raymond Floyd on how to get the golf ball in the cup with the least number of strokes.

Verlo and sink it Dr.Craig Farnsworth, 1997. An instruction book on how to improve your putting by teaching you how to see the line better times and the ball in the hole.

The impact zone by Bobby Clampett, 2007. This book is a unique guide to teach a golfer to understand how improve your swing for better impact of your ball club.

Think Like Tiger by John Andrisani, 2002. An analysis of Tiger Woods' mental game Based on the experience of John Andrisani Tiger professor aged 10 to 18 and their interaction with Tiger's family and acquaintances over the years.

Golf Course Architecture is their particular kind of design. Here are some of the books written about him by some of the great masters and one of the younger generation.

Golf By Design by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. 1993. Jones takes golfers from tee to green detailing how golf architects created problems in a golf course and offers the player strategies to address these challenges.

Golf, as it was meant to be played by Michael Fay, 2000. Scottish-born Donald Ross designed over 400 courses in the U.S. and Canada. In this book by Michael Fay takes the reader on a walk through 18 holes designed master Ross selected courses in the U.S.

Golf never failed me by Donald J. Ross, 1996. Comments lost Donald Ross golf course architecture, maintenance of the course and everything else. These comments were written before 1914, intended to be published then, but for some reason were never published. They came to light after the death of Ross in 1948.

Sandy Lyle has been around championship courses of Scotland Sandy Lyle Bob Ferrier 1982. Sandy Lyle takes the reader along the fairways and greens that describes the challenges six of the largest golf courses in Scotland. several photographs and a sketch show for described each hole.

The anatomy of a golf course by Tom Doaks, 1992. Doaks Tom discusses his craft and explains the strategies and the architects Golf Decisions on the establishment of a course and how the plans for the course to be played.

The mental aspect of the game. Golf, the game is sometimes done players go mad. It has been said that golf is reflected all the positive and negative aspects of life. No wonder that this has been written. Here are several books covering the mental side of golf.

Golf and the Spirit by M. Scott Peck, 1999. In this book of M. Scott Peck wrote a book for beginners and teachers. It goes beyond mechanics to explore the substantive issues, how to manage emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects of the wonderful, maddening, humbling and inspiring game of golf.

Golfers Guide to the Meaning of Life by Gary Player, 2001. Fifteen lessons from Gary Player from "Why play golf" through "sportsmanship" and "motivation" that ends with "The Eternal Game".

Field of Dreams by John Updike, 1996. John Updike is reflected in the game of golf and mental challenges.

Golf for Enlightenment by Deepak Chapra, 2003. Golf For Enlightenment is a fascinating story about Adam, who is playing a terrible round of golf, when you meet with a professional Teaching young man named Leda. In seven short but profound lessons that teaches Adam the essence of the game that explains a lot about life itself.

A Good Walk Spoiled by John Feinstein, 1995. John Feinstein has written an account of a life professional golfer on the PGA Tour.

Links by Lorne Rubenstein, 1991. Links is of the essence and mystique of golf, the magic that attracts people from around the world of this fascinating game.

Finally, golf humor. If you play golf regularly, you need to have a sense of humor about the game and especially on his game. Here are some of the most humorous book on golf ever written.

Divots, Shanks, Gimmes, Mulligans and Chile Dips by Glen Wagoner, 1993. The first half of this book is about life on the pro tour Wagoner as a writer and observer. The second part covers the life of a hacker, pulling the club and everything else.

Golfmanship by Stephen Potter, 1968. funny lessons on tactics and maneuvers of a golfer can use to win in golf.

Lie Down The Hill by Carl Hiassen, 2008. Carl Chronicle Hiassen his return to golf after an absence of unstable 30 years and the subsequent demolition of their self-esteem will roll with laughter. A book for all hackers.

Golf on the letter of Peter Dobereiner, 1991. A collection of some of the best work of Peter Dobereiner, doyen of golf writers and surely one of the funniest men ever to stroke, both a pen and a golf club.

The Art of Golf by thick Michael Green, 1967. Humorous anecdotes about the experiences of a hacker of golf at the golf course.

And probably the prize of my collection of golf humor:

The Golf Omnibus by PG. Wodehouse, 1914. Thirty-one humorous tales of the street to the green setting of the clubhouse sand trap the master of comic fiction.

I hope my golf books useful. That way not to read about golf for a while.
