Norwegian Ekornes Furniture - Spotlight on Jens

Ekornes is a European furniture manufacturer located in Norway. Whatâ € ™ s interesting is that Ekornes is headquartered in a country with just over four and a half million people around the same population as the state of Colorado. However, their achievements in high-end furniture account have become worldwide. In this article weâ € ™ re going to take a look at the man who founded Norwegian Ekornes and examine the rich history of a company started from humble beginnings, hardship endured through World War II and embraced modern technology to create furniture unlike any other.

Jens Ekornes started his business in 1934. He began in a small building located in Sunnmà ¨ re, Norway with three employees and a German machine made. Your company was to build steel springs for the mattress in full swing and furniture. Business was doing well enough to Jens and inquired about the ramification of the construction Furniture component to really build their own mattresses. Between 1935-1939 Jens Ekornes toured the exhibition of their new furniture design through different shows, and retail and steadily increasing their orders and labor for the new line of Svane ® mattresses. Soon begins the opening of new factories to help to take in the mattress business added new lines and things seem to go pretty well for Jens Ekornesâ € | until the war broke out in Europe. In April 1940 Norway is invaded by large and superior German forces. Norway resists but quickly overcome and months later it paid more. Jens Ekornes and his family live through the occupation. The years of hardship for many Europeans, including the family pass Ekornes until finally the Allied forces and successfully reach liberate Europe. Germany surrenders unconditionally 1945 and the war ends in the European theater. In 1946, Jens Ekornes travels to the United States. His brothers ensure business while Jens is not. He began work in a factory mattresses in the U.S. to be more skilled in their craft. Impressed by industrialization and how to help reduce manufacturing costs of their mattresses, which equipment purchases and hires a U.S. expert to travel with him to Norway to train their employees on how to use the new machinery.

From 1947-1959 Jens Ekornes new beginning in the works furniture components from other manufacturers. Opens a new plant to handle pieces of wood and another for the purpose of creating foam. According to his foray into mattresses, Jens Ekornes starts designing and building furniture and in 1966 introduced a line of furniture club called simply Ekornes ®. The leather furniture was met with much success that may have also been attributed to mail client sent to all national home Ekornes ® Norway and soon became a household name in Norway.

1971 marked an important year for introducing Ekornes ® Stressless ® leather recliner. The success generated by Stressless recliners lead to a significant expansion for Ekornes ® in itâ € ™ s steel and automation of services that can be maintained up with the growing international demand. In 1980 Ekornes ® is aggregated and begins to export the line of Stressless ® recliners and furniture from around the world. With several patented features that include a lower lumbar support, slide and have head system moves forward with the individual, Stressless ® recliners were established with features not available in any recliner in the world. In 1983, 500,000 Stressless Recliners ® have been sold worldwide. A remarkable and impressive feat considering the competition from high-end furniture found throughout the world.

Stressless ® and ® are Ekornes currently sold in over 30 countries on five continents. Stressless recliners have joined the game sofas, couches, chairs and ottomans, and matching coffee tables and end tables. Ekornes continues to move forward with advances in industrial technology and the creation of new functions in all Ekornes furniture. With a rich history dating back to 1934, Jens Ekornes's legacy lives on today in all Ekornes Stressless ® ® products.
