Gap year split between Australia and the U.S.?

British teeanger I plan to travel to (and around) Australia and the U.S. in future next. I hope to get to know the premises of each country, and avoid some of the usual tourist clichés. Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas or experiences related to travel in Australia or America, for example, good places to visit, how to integrate with the locals, etc.

For individuals: 1. Hit the bars, go dancing. 2. Get a work visa and get a better job. sites in California: 1. Disneyland 2. Universal Studios 3. Venice Beach 4. Hollywood sign 5. Lagoon Beach 6. Bodegas Australia: 1. Great Barrier Reef - only spent a day and should have done 2. 2. Sydney - Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge nightlife. 3. Melbourne - Nightlife. 4. Great Ocean Road - Gorgeous rock formations. Is the screen on my desktop. 5. Melbourne and Sydney warehouses in both areas. Avoid Sydney Airport customs. Enter by a different airport. Avoid Kuranda, near Cairns - big tourist trap (Book of the butterfly was interesting, but not worth the whole journey).
