fellow travelers and companies in the U.S.?

I'll be driving through the east coast in the coming months and need to know of places on the Internet where partners can coordinate picking up or transport items (all legal) So I can make some money for gas. I used something similar when I moved to VA for my pets. Does anyone know of groups with similar needs?
