The travel industry and Deep Web: Marcus P. Relactions Interviews Zillman

Today we are interviewing Marcus P. Zillman, International Internet expert, the author, keynote speaker, business consultant and one of the most renowned expert on Deep Web, information retrieval and Internet.

Marcus is currently Executive Director of the Virtual Private Library. He is a member of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, and is also active as a speaker of renown International and author.

Marcus will talk about the deep web, the future of search engines "and their relationship with the travel industry.

To start our interview ...: What is your definition of deep web?

The simple definition of the deep web is the area of the World Wide Web search is not constantly and therefore are not available to the investigator and the investigator. Can be files, databases,. ps to documents. al. that the main Search engines are not programmed or search algorithms.

Is it possible to estimate the actual width of the Web? What is the relationship between Web invisible and visible?

I have seen numerous studies and discussions on this that the state of deep web represents 500 billion to 1 trillion pages of pages. I incline to the top side and the content is developing at a tremendous rate, with blogs, wikis, etc. traditional web search by Google and other search in the area normally 20 to 30 billion depending on talk pages. Now you can see a big connection between traditional web and deep web ... in the top 30 billion compared 1 trillion dollars.

The travel industry is media generated by consumers affected. In your opinion, what important is to understand and control the deep web for a tour operator?

It is very important for the travel operator not only to understand the deep web, but know how to work within the deep web to discover new knowledge, and to obtain the most competitive knowledge and learn what consumers are thinking.

I was a guest speaker at a national conference tour operator in 1995 and said that the Internet is coming ... Internet is coming .... and consumers soon may purchase tickets directly online! Needless to say, was not well received, but of course I was invited back in two years to show them what they should do .... Interesting times then and now!

Do you think that search engines will improve the accuracy in the near future and that the gap between indexed and the invisible be reduced?

Very good question! I would say hopefully Yes, but in the real virtual world is more prone to maintain the same rate as new types of files and knowledge bases are constantly being developed, not to mention all the video and multimedia files Currently the rates are added to the Internet, it would fall into the deep web.

Do you think universal search algorithm again significantly improve the performance of Google in terms of its research capacity of the deep web?

As founder of BotSpot bot builder and long-time goal end is and always will be a universal search algorithm! If this algorithm is created and all files on the Internet are open and designed to adapt to Search Bot Universal then allowing a better performance of Google in the ability to search the deep web ... I think we should concentrate on teaching people how to search and how to write search queries first ... ;-) many times the search results are based on garbage in, garbage out ...

Make believe you that a semantic search engine actually as powerful as Google never will appear on the market?

Google has gained significant market share since its creation in 1996 at Stanford. I have seen and continue to investigate a series of semantic search engines in this area is of great interest to me. In fact, I've created a special section on the semantic web resources in Deep Web Research Subject Tracer Information Blog that shows how this sector is growing and will be part of future Search. Other areas include ovens that allow a better major label to help better identify the contents.

One of his most successful Opening is "Searching the Internet in 2007 and beyond": how do you view the information gathering process to evolve over the next future? "Search engines remain the primary information retrieval doors or are replaced by other tools (RSS, e-mail alert ..)?

Looking in the future will be a really exciting adventure. We will see much more demanding answers with less scrolling end! Let's get the information that approaches 100% relevancy and allowing us to compare result is then to get what they really want. In my just released publication Current Awareness Monitors and alerts and Information Traps for 2008 show that all monitors, alerts and information traps that are available on the web. The future will still more of these to keep people current in their business, profession or special interest! All managers of travel requirements that track your name, personal name and competitors name not to mention other special interests in the area ... This should be done now and be part of its ongoing program of market intelligence!

How users manage information overload of the Web?

The key to managing information overload on the Web is education! I have listed many resources to help overcome the information overload on the Web and which are freely available in my Managing information overload page presentation resources.

What are your three top tips for tour operators to monitor online reputation?

You must understand the deep web, you must configure the robots to monitor their name and competition and must have current awareness information traps set to bring you the latest information in your field or niche area of interest / profession!

In this post, "Google takes the Internet" The author imagines a possible future (2017) from Google, Internet, Microsoft and other search engines: Do you believe could be an article of or a joke?

Future articles are always rich, but if one knows and understands the original creation of the Internet (1969) and how the Internet Engineering Task Forces were created ... then be understood that no single person, not a company, not a country can never acquire or control the Internet! Actually we live in interesting times in the world has truly become a global economy and the Internet has created a global collaboration capabilities never seen before in all of humanity!
