Turkey Baster?

Is this an effective alternative to disposable douching or enemas? My man is a monster of cleaning, and likes that I use enemas disposable. But to be perfectly frank, they are expensive for everyday use. I am a full time student. Do any of you tried a simple turkey baster with water hot? Is it effective? Is there another trick I do not know?
