Have you been to Italy?

I will run the marathon in Florence, Turkey Day and I'm looking for places to visit close by the before and after of the race. I do not want long plane trips or plane ticket over 200 faces in one direction. I've seen flying from San Francisco to Barcelona to Florence for race and then to Sardinia and back home. You may check out Ryan Air. This is a low-cost airline in Europe. You can also take a train to many parts of Europe, very cheap.
